POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION TITLE

 

Fleet Technician—Transportation

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma or G.E.D. minimum.
  2. Valid Arizona State Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
  3. Must have experienced working on school buses and fleet vehicles with both gasoline and diesel engines.
  4. Five years of successful shop experience preferred.
  5. Must have own tools.
  6. Ability to perform engine replacement, tune-ups, brake jobs, and all general repairs for both gas and diesel engines.
  7. Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems and perform on-the-spot repairs on all District vehicles.
  8. Must meet all Arizona School Bus Driver Certification requirements:
  9. Arizona Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with passengers and school bus endorsements.
  10. Pass A.D.O.T. driver physical examination.
  11. Possesses current First Aid and CPR certification for adults, children, and infants.
  12. Pass all drug testing requirements.
  13. Pass three-day New Bus Driver Training Course and Exam Test.
  14. Pass Bus Driving Road Test.
  15. Pass physical performance test.
  16. Must pass mechanical test.
  17. Ability to perform all work with little or no supervision.
  18. Must be in good physical health and able to lift more than 50 lbs.

Shop Foreman

 

JOB GOAL

 

Keeps District cars, pick-ups, and buses in such a state of operational excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program of the District.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Diagnoses and repairs all District equipment.
  1. Assists the shop foreman in maintaining an efficient and effective routine preventive maintenance schedule for all District vehicles.
  1. Maintains high standards of safety and good housekeeping methods in all work-related areas.
  1. Helps maintain all District-owned equipment and coordinates with drivers on preventative maintenance.
  1. Upholds all performance responsibilities described for driving a school bus.
  1. Maintains daily route roster when driving a school bus.
  1. Follows all Federal, State, and local regulations that apply to student transportation.
  1. Demonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
  1. Reports all damages and misuse of District equipment to the shop foreman.
  1. Assists in all Code 3 drills within the District campus.
  1. Learns new ideas and procedures in mechanical and electrical repairs.
  1. Identifies parts and equipments.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

Ninety (90) days probationary period of employment.  Nine and one-half months a year thereafter at Grade 5 on the Initial Support Staff Salary Schedule. Non-exempt position.  Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

 

EVALUATION

 

The performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Governing Board’s policy on the Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.
