POSITION TITLE
Lifeguard—Swimming Pool
QUALIFICATIONS
- High Diploma or G.E.D. minimum.
- Valid Arizona State Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Must be at least 18 years old or older.
- Must have current CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Lifeguard experience preferred. (Will train if no lifeguard experience and required to complete a Water Safety Instructor (WSI) course and obtain certification to teach swimming lessons.)
REPORTS TO
Swimming Pool Coordinator and Swimming Pool Manager in the Coordinator’s absence
JOB GOAL
To provide a safe environment for swimming pool patrons.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1.0 Primary Duties
1.1 Observes and enforces all rules and regulations.
1.2 Prevents injury and minimizes or eliminates hazardous situations.
1.3 Responds quickly to all emergency situations.
1.4 Administers emergency first aid to victims of an injury.
1.5 Communicates with other lifeguards and aquatic staff the need for additional assistance and/or equipment.
2.0 Secondary Duties
2.1 Attends all in-service training programs and makes him/herself aware of all facility programs and scheduling.
2.2 Educates the facility patrons and informs them of the purpose of and the need for rules.
2.3 Keeps patrons safe while swimming at the facility.
2.4 Helps keep the facility clean, sanitary, and safe.
2.5 Communicates respect with other co-workers.
2.6 Maintains respect for patrons and those visiting the facility.
2.7 Maintains a current lifeguard certificate at all times.
2.8 Complies with all District policies and procedures and local, State and Federal laws.
2.9 Assists parents or family members in locating missing children or relatives.
2.10 Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Timesheet on-call basis at Grade 2 on the Initial Placement Support Staff Salary Schedule. This position is a Non-exempt position. Salary and work year to be established by the Governing Board.
