POSITION TITLE
Substitute Teacher—District-wide
QUALIFICATIONS
- Regular Substitute Teachers: Bachelor's Degree required.
- First time Substitute Teachers: High School Diploma or 30 semester hours of college education in Education.
- Valid Arizona State Teaching Certificate, Regular or Emergency Substitute Teaching Certificate.
- Valid Arizona State Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Must have a working telephone.
REPORTS TO
School Principal or Principal’s Administrative Assistant
JOB GOALS
To enable each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the teacher.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reports to the building principal or principal’s administrative assistant upon arrival at the school building.
- Checks all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
- Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
- Teaches the lesson outlined and described in the Substitute Teacher’s Guide as prepared by the absent teacher.
- Consults with the building principal, department head, or team leader before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the Substitute Teacher’s Guide.
- Assumes responsibilities for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during lunch and recess periods.
- Reports in writing, on the form provided by the principal’s administrative assistant, the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
- Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
- Assumes responsibilities for coverage of teacher duties (i.e. cafeteria, playground, etc.)
- Performs other duties as assigned by the regular teacher or principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
On call and timesheet basis. The Governing Board will establish salary and work year.
