POSITION TITLE

 

Substitute Teacher—District-wide

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Regular Substitute Teachers:  Bachelor's Degree required.
  2. First time Substitute Teachers: High School Diploma or 30 semester hours of college education in Education.  
  3. Valid Arizona State Teaching Certificate, Regular or Emergency Substitute Teaching Certificate.
  4. Valid Arizona State Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  5. Must have a working telephone.

REPORTS TO

 

School Principal or Principal’s Administrative Assistant

 

JOB GOALS

 

To enable each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the teacher.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Reports to the building principal or principal’s administrative assistant upon arrival at the school building.
  2. Checks all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
  3. Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
  4. Teaches the lesson outlined and described in the Substitute Teacher’s Guide as prepared by the absent teacher.
  5. Consults with the building principal, department head, or team leader before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the Substitute Teacher’s Guide.
  6. Assumes responsibilities for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during lunch and recess periods.
  7. Reports in writing, on the form provided by the principal’s administrative assistant, the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
  8. Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
  9. Assumes responsibilities for coverage of teacher duties (i.e. cafeteria, playground, etc.)
  10. Performs other duties as assigned by the regular teacher or principal.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

On call and timesheet basis. The Governing Board will establish salary and work year.
