POSITION TITLE

 

Assistant Principal—Elementary School

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Valid Arizona State Administrative Certificate.
  2. Valid Arizona State Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  3. Master's Degree in Education or related field.
  4. At least five years of successful teaching experience required.
  5. Fifteen (15) hours of State approved Structured English Immersion (SEI) coursework.

JOB GOAL

 

Assumes the role of the assistant principal of the school and assists the principal by using leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to promote the educational development of each student and the professional development of staff members.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.
  1. Serves as the assistant principal of the school.
  1. Serves as principal in the absence of the principal.
  1. Assists the principal in building maintenance and improvement.
  1. Coordinates the use of facilities.
  1. Assists in the supervision and evaluation of certified and classified staff.
  1. Assumes responsibilities for coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
  1. Serves with parent, faculty, and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
  1. Assists in the interpretation of school District programs, policies, and procedures to students, parents, staff, and community.
  1. Oversees all matters of enrollment, registration, classification, scheduling, and grade reporting of students.
  1. Cooperates in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
  1. Oversees all matters of student attendance including supervising home-school liaison, attendance clerk, and registrar.
  1. Manages all student behavior problems in a fair and just manner, and maintains records of any disciplinary action taken, advises administrators and faculty on matters of student discipline.
  1. Confers with parents, teachers, counselors, support service personnel, and students on matter of discipline, welfare, and academic achievement.
  1. Shares with the principal the responsibility for protecting the health and welfare of the students.
  1. Serves as liaison between the schools and such public health and social service agencies as have occasion to work with or for the school including handling of problems relating to neglect, abuse, and truancy from school.
  1. Assists with campus control and security.
  1. Assists with supervisory responsibility for student activities, programs of student orientation, and similar activities.
  1. Assists in the development, maintenance, and distribution of student calendars, handbooks, schedules, bulletins, and the like.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

Eleven (11) months a year.   Flex schedules will be arranged to supervisor’s recommendation and contract dates.  The Governing Board will establish salary and work year.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
