POSITION TITLE

 

Substitute Bus Driver—Transportation

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. High School Diploma or G.E.D. minimum.
  2. Valid Arizona State Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  3. Must meet all Arizona School Bus Driver Certification requirements:  (a) Possess an Arizona Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License with Passengers (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements; (b) Pass A.D.O.T. physical examination; (c) Possess First Aid and CPR certification for adult, children and infant; (d) Pass all drug testing requirements; (e) Pass three-day New Bus driver Training courses and Exam test; (f) Complete and pass a 20-hour Behind the Wheel training; (g) Pass the Physical Performance Test; (h) Possess a valid Identity Verified Fingerprint (IVP) Clearance Card.
  4. Must have five (5) years of clean driving record.
  5. Must comply with the Arizona Minimum Standards for Student Transportation and Federal Regulations.
  6. Must be able to handle emergencies in bus operation.
  7. Must be dedicated and understanding of children and their safety.
  8. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of operational and preventive maintenance techniques.
  9. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
  10. Must be able to work flexible hours.

JOB GOAL

 

To provide a reliable, safe and efficient transportation so that all approved passengers may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the District’s curriculum and extra-curricular programs.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILTIES

  1. Maintains a professional attitude and encourages positive relationships with employees, students and the public.
  1. Ensures and promotes student’s safety, health and welfare at all times.
  1. Obeys all applicable traffic laws.
  1. Maintains discipline and enforces school bus rules when students are on board.
  1. Reports all student bus conduct to proper personnel and completes all required documents.
  1. Drives bus route and trips assigned by supervisors.
  1. Assumes responsibility for assigned trips and destinations, obtaining a fuel card, maintaining proper trip documents and follows business office procedures upon return of trip.
  1. Follows field trip procedures while on a trip.
  1. Performs a Pre-trip and Post-trip for each run.
  1. Notifies and reports any District property damages to proper personnel and completes all required documents.
  1. Follows IDEA, AAC, and State regulations for special needs transport.
  1. Reports immediately any repairs needed or safety device failure to the Transportation Supervisor or Shop Foreman.
  1. Transports only approved students and staff.
  1. Picks up and releases students only at District approved designated bus stops.
  1. Records daily temperature checks when students board the bus.
  1. Maintains daily roster of students assigned to bus
  1. Maintains a daily log of bus mileages, number of students transported, and submits to transportation office as required.
  1. Records other information regarding bus route related information as needed.
  1. Keeps bus or other assigned vehicle clean on a daily basis and follows all housekeeping standards according to Arizona Administrative Code.
  1. Follows District Mitigation Plan and CDC Guidelines for keeping school bus safe and sanitized.
  1. Ensures all passengers wear facemask when aboard the bus.
  1. Maintains a seating chart for all passengers.
  1. Refuels assigned bus after each bus route and records on Fuel Log gallons of fuel pumped.
  1. Reports immediately all accidents and completes all necessary documents to proper personnel.

  1. Conducts a minimum of two school bus evacuation drills as required by Arizona Administrative Code.
  1. Adheres to KUSD FERPA and HIPPA policy of students and employees at all times.
  1. Maintains all requirements for FMCSA, ADOT/CDL and DPS Student Transportation Unit.
  1. Uses a two-way radio according to FCC regulations.
  1. Attends all required orientations, trainings and staff meetings as planned by supervisors.
  1. Learns and utilizes technology equipment used within the transportation department.
  1. Follows the chain of command.
  1. Follows all Title 13 Arizona Administrative Code for School Bus Drivers.
  1. Follows all KUSD Governing Board Policy, regulations and procedures.
  1. Follows all emergency guidelines and procedures.
  1. Supports and promotes the District’s mission and educational goals.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

On call as needed timesheet basis at Grade 5, Step 1 on the Initial Placement on the Support Staff Salary Schedule.
