POSITION TITLE

 

District Custodial Supervisor—Operations

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Associate degree or 60 hours of college coursework in general studies.
  2. Valid Arizona State Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  3. Valid Arizona State Driver’s License.
  4. At least four years of successful experience required in custodial and maintenance services, two of which must have been supervisory and custodial, which includes knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, and supplies.
  5. Four (4) years of custodial supervisory experience preferred.
  6. Experience and knowledge of effectively implementing a Team Cleaning program.
  7. Bilingual (English/Navajo) speaker preferred.
  8. Must be in good physical health and able to lift classroom furniture and equipment that is 50-75 pounds.

District Custodial Work Site Leaders and District-wide Custodians

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develops, establishes, and provides supervision of the custodial program regarding the cleaning of District buildings and grounds.
  1. Authorizes purchases in accordance with budgetary guidelines and State procurement.
  1. Assumes responsibility for the comprehensive overall planning and scheduling of custodial District-wide Program, repair and meeting all OEH and OSHA safety and health requirements of the district.
  1. Inspects all school buildings and grounds and installations on a regular basis to determine that high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, safety and security are maintained.
  1. Assists the Director of Operations in the development of a District-wide Custodial Program regarding the education of safety and accident prevention.
  1. Organizes and implements a program of preventive maintenance and completion of work orders in a timely matter.
  2. Monitors the time records of all custodial employees in the district.
  1. Maintains a coordinated inventory control program and recommends purchases of suitable supplies, tools, and equipment.
  1. Evaluates the performance of custodial staff twice a year.
  1. Strives constantly to promote the safety, health, cleanliness and comfort of students and employees.
  1. Ensures that all entrance and exit doors are open and are working properly during and after hours of building occupancy.
  1. Monitors and insures economical usage of custodial supply, water, and electricity.
  1. Implements a schedule related to painting, cleaning light fixtures and other minor maintenance repairs assigned to District-wide custodians and completed in a timely matter.
  1. Reports major repairs needed promptly to the director of operations or administrative assistant.
  1. Establishes a regular monthly schedule for all custodial equipment requiring scheduled servicing.
  1. Evaluates the program of custodial department on a continuing basis and recommends changes to the Director of Operations.
  1. Assists in the employment, recruitment, assignment, transfer, promotion, demotion, or dismissal of custodial employees.
  1. Conducts a continuing program of staff training and personnel development.
  1. Devises comprehensive and efficient systems of recordkeeping in accordance with the needs of custodial department regarding policies, regulations and laws affecting the department.
  1. Informs and advises the Director of Operations about programs, practices, and problems of the schools, and keeps the Director of Operations informed of the activities operating under his/her authority.
  1. Conducts weekly staff meetings as needed to interpret changes in Governing Board policy or administrative rules, to discuss development, and to evaluate trends in education as they pertain to the areas of assigned responsibility.
  1. Works cooperatively with building principals in coordinating and meeting the needs of students and employees as requested by the principal.
  1. Cooperates, communicates, and works among students and staff in the district.
  1. Prepares and submits monthly reports and other documents to the Director of Operations on a timely basis.
  1. Practices safety always with staff.
  1. Respects and complies with matters regarding Federal, State, and Tribal regulations and District policies and procedures.
  1. Assumes primary responsibilities for the safe condition of building and grounds and similar elements in the facilities owned or operated by the district.
  1. Assigns and supervises maintenance and repairs performed by custodial personnel and to maintain housekeeping of buildings.
  1. Instructs custodial personnel on proper methods and procedures in repair work.
  1. Recommends supplies and equipment for purchase and maintains the inventory of District-owned tools, equipment, and supplies.
  1. Examines building and grounds on a regular basis for the purpose of preventive maintenance.
  1. Develops a daily, weekly, and monthly work schedule.
  1. Performs other duties as assigned by Director of Operations.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

Serves a 90-day probationary period when initially hired. Thereafter, a full-time contract of 12-month contract at Grade 3 on the Support Exempt Salary Schedule for New Hires. The Governing Board will establish salary and work year.

 

EVALUATION

 

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on the Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
